Inspired by the tradition of street photography, New York City based photographer Joan Piekny documents people in cities, including New York, London, Paris. Her focus is on the individual in an urban setting, integrating subject and location into street scenes that depict urban life. Together the images create a collective street portrait that frames and documents our cultural times.

Joan’s education includes a BFA from Wayne State University where she studied painting and printmaking. In addition, she has studied at the Center for Creative Studies and NYU. Her experience includes a career as an art director and graphic designer.
